WAD: MANILA BAY Dragon Boat Tutorial and Coastal Clean-up

October 4, 2025 – In celebration of World Architecture Day 2025, themed “Design for Strength,” and the International Coastal Cleanup Month, the UAP Diliman Chapter collaborated with the Aqua Fortis Dragon Boat Team and Greenpeace Philippines for a meaningful morning of paddling, learning, and environmental action at the CCP Bay Terminal Docksite.

The activity highlighted how strength in design begins with resilience in community. Members, volunteers, and partners joined forces in a Coastal Cleanup Drive, a Dragon Boat Rowing Tutorial, and a Marine Plastic Pollution Talk, emphasizing the interconnectedness of physical strength, environmental care, and sustainable living.

As part of the chapter’s CSR and Green Architecture advocacy, UAP Diliman also donated and turned over two custom-designed waste bins to Aqua Fortis for dockside use—symbolizing design’s practical role in supporting cleaner, more resilient environments.

This event reflected the UIA’s call for architects to design for durability, adaptability, and community continuity, reinforcing that architecture extends beyond buildings—it also strengthens ecosystems and human connections. Through this initiative, UAP Diliman demonstrated that “Design for Strength” is not only about structures but about empowering people and protecting the world we build within.

The activity supports the UAP’s Visionary Initiatives and Member Empowerment thrusts under MOVERS OF PROGRESS, and reflects the B.U.I.L.D. spirit of bridging leadership, sustainability, and service.
