World Architecture Day 2025: “Design for Strength – Crafting Sustainable Future” Opening Ceremony and Forum

On October 6, 2025, the United Architects of the Philippines celebrated World Architecture Day (WAD) 2025 with the theme “Design for Strength: Crafting Sustainable Future.” The event was held at the UAP National Headquarters in Quezon City and featured both the Opening Ceremony and the WAD Forum.

The ceremony was graced by H.E. Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Philippines, who served as Guest of Honor and Speaker. The discussions centered on resilience and sustainability as key foundations of modern architecture — emphasizing strength not only in structures but in communities and design ethics.
During the forum, distinguished speakers shared insights on the role of architects in shaping adaptive, enduring, and culturally sensitive environments. Topics covered included Alternative Construction Materials for Sustainable Building Solutions (Ar. Christian Salandanan), Smart Building Solutions and BERDE Compliance (Ar. Ma. Lui Daya-Garcia), and Climate Resilience as Key to Sustainable Built Environment (Ar. Jose Miranda).
Representing UAP Diliman, Ar. Rachelle Lea C. Manuel joined fellow chapter presidents and district leaders in celebrating the organization’s shared mission to design for strength and sustainability. The event underscored UAP’s continuing commitment to empowering architects as agents of resilience and innovation, embodying the national thrust of Visionary Initiatives and Member Empowerment under MOVERS OF PROGRESS.
