A Legacy of Excellence and Leadership

45 Years of UAP Diliman
For over four decades, the UAP QC Diliman Chapter has stood as a pillar of organizational excellence, leadership, and service. Chartered on July 14, 1979, our chapter was founded by visionary architects who shared a commitment to advancing the profession and fostering a culture of innovation, mentorship, and camaraderie. As the 29th chapter of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), we have continuously set the standard for professional excellence, earning numerous accolades, including multiple Best Chapter Awards and the prestigious Gold Hall of Fame recognition.
Early Years

The UAP Diliman Chapter was officially chartered on July 14, 1979, under the leadership of its first president, Dean Aurelio T. Juguilon, during the tenure of UAP National President Felipe Mendoza. It became the 29th chapter of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP). The chapter’s founding members included faculty and graduates of the UP College of Architecture, along with architects from the Campus Planning, Development, and Maintenance Office (CPDMO) of the University of the Philippines.
The charter members included Dean Aurelio T. Juguilon+, Dean Geronimo V. Manahan+, Froilan L. Hong, Prosperidad C. Luis, Armand S. Commandante+, Victor Tiotuyco, Antonio G. Martinez, Antonio Turalba, Ma. Christina V. Turalba, Dean Honrado R. Fernandez+, and Esther Tablante Sherman. Although these pioneers had been actively involved in the establishment of the UAP National Organization and its various committees since 1975, it was only on 1979, that they officially formed a chapter of their own.

Diliman Krokis
The first Diliman newsletter, titled Diliman Krokis—’krokis’ meaning freehand drawing—was published as mimeographed sheets. It featured technical papers based on research conducted by members, articles and insights on architecture, and news updates on UAP National activities.

Pioneering Advocacy and Collaboration (1982)
In 1982, under the leadership of Josefina M. Ramos+, the Chapter hosted the first dialogue with the Board of Architecture to help improve the state of architectural practice in the country. A positive outcome of this forum was the formation of the Council for Professional Ethics, which included participants from both the Board of Architecture and the UAP. Additionally, that same year, the Chapter participated in the first ARCASIA, held in Manila.
