KagalaKAHON Project, MOA Signing with Barangay Pinagbuhatan and Presentation of initial Parian Creek Mural Design Studies!
As an alternative to exchange gifts, the United Architects of the Philippines Diliman Chapter decided to do a Joy-in-a-Box project instead, aptly calle, KagalaKAHAON to align with our Paskong Pinoy theme for #HeritageDecember. The concept of Joy-in-a-Box is for a giver to fill up a bo (usually a shoe box) with what the receiver wishes for, or would gladly receive. Partnering with the Samahan ng mga Kababaihan ng Willarey 1&2, we matched chapter members with children from the community. Our goal is to provide children with art materials and school supplies so they can unleash their creative potential. Just like our WAD objective, we wish to promote the profession by providing more and more children opportunities to unleash their creative spirits. Even on an early Monday schedule, the children and mothers from the community were present to receive these special gifts, which were happily received after partaking their Jollibee meals.
Afterwards, the UAPD group headed to the barangay hall for the MOA signing with Barangay Pinagbuhatan. With the good Kap Robin Salandanan, UAPD Chapter President Ar. Katz Regala Odulio, and witnessed by Pinagbuhatan Elementary School Principal Jo Macawile, the barangay staff, and UAPD execom, we made the partnership official! We have been blessed to have had opportunities to work with the community this year, and are eager to see the continued collaboration for exciting projects this 2025. It was also the perfect opportunity to make our initial presentation for our Parian Creek Mural Project. Based on the workshops and talks conducted last World Architecture Day on October 7 and 13, 2024, these mural studies speak of the community’s vision for this historical site. We continue to build on this collaborative activity with the help of the Barangay Pinagbuhatan, the Pinagbuhatan Elementary School, and other stakeholders of the community.
We round off the year with these activities, all geared towards sharing with the community the time, talents and treasures of the chapter members. We thank everyone who continues to support our efforts to spread peace, love and hope this season, and throughout the year!
