Designing Level 1 and Level 2 Hospitals in the Philippines: A Foundation Course on Hospital Planning and Design

The UAP QC Diliman Chapter takes pride in the participation of Elda Shina S. Samoza, a Diliman Chapter member, who was invited as a lecturer by Northstar Professional Learning & Development Center, Inc. for the 5-day seminar/workshop entitled “Designing Level 1 and Level 2 Hospitals in the Philippines: A Foundation Course on Hospital Planning and Design.” The activity, with provisional 20 CPD units, was held at the Ilocos Norte Capitol Auditorium from January 21 to 25, 2026, and was offered to practicing architects nationwide.

The seminar featured a series of video-lectures delivered by industry practitioners and specialists in healthcare architecture. As one of the invited resource speakers, Ar. Samoza discussed Clinical Laboratory Departmental Design, covering relevant space programming, process and end-user flows, planning concepts, design strategies, and floor plan considerations essential to Level 1 and Level 2 hospital facilities.

Her lecture contributed practical and technical insights drawn from professional experience in healthcare architecture, reinforcing standards-based planning and functional design approaches. Through this participation, the UAP QC Diliman Chapter supported the advancement of professional knowledge and competence, in line with the UAP National thrust MOVERS OF PROGRESS, particularly in Member Empowerment and Justice to the Profession.
